#NYFW 2012 Strut – The Fashionable Mom Show

I have a special place in my heart for fashion (you may or may not have noticed) and for moms, so I just thought that I’d share with you one of my favorite New York Fashion Week events that I attended last week – one that celebrated both of them!

At the Strut, Fashionable Moms Show – held at the Mercedes Benz NYFW Tents, my sister, close friend, and I were treated to a show highlighting women who were not only moms, but also empowered females.

My pictures were all a little fuzzy, but here’s a video of the event:

Some of Strut’s moms on a mission were Wendy Williams, Denise Albert and Melissa Gerstein (The Moms), Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, Lisa Rinna, Holly Pavlika, Jenny Fleiss, Latham Thomas, Bernadette Catrabone (who wore one of my favorite piece’s from Laundry by Shelli Segal), Kerri Gristina (wearing another favorite dress), Lucy Sykes, Melissa Lanz, Karen Klopp, Gigi Lee Chang, Chrysula Winegar, Erica Katz, Divya Gugnani, Kathleen Tullie, Tonia Sanders, Larysa DiDio, Shari Brooks, Devi Thomas, GY Sargent Stephanie Borges, Stephanie McMahon, Casey Santiago, Jeanette Simon, Joyce Shulman, Melanie Fascitelli, Jane Park (Julep Maven!), Carley Roney, Melanie Berliner, Amanda Poses, Lisa Sharkey, and Carey Socol.

What I loved (besides the great fashion), was that this show featured females who were all doing something amazing (in one way or another). Things like teaching, managing a business, serving her country, or supporting a worthy cause – that’s what makes them memorable, and that’s what makes them excellent role models not just for their kids but for women everywhere! I couldn’t help but think, while I was watching the runway, that my own mom would’ve been a perfect addition to the show 😉

After the show us ladies headed uptown and had some serious amazing Malaysian Pad Thai. It was so nice to be walking the city streets in my haute (okay, bought from Sears) couture, and hanging out with the women who inspire me!
