Despite my recent attempts to curb my beauty spending (haha!) I just had to buy this years’ Birchbox limited edition boxes for CEW Insiders’ Choice Beauty Awards when I heard that they were available. For those of you who don’t know, CEW is one of the most (if not thee most) prestigious beauty awards – where the best products from the drugstore to the high end boutique brands are sifted through and voted for by beauty editors and the most influential folks in the beauty industry. It’s pretty impressive and if it’s been voted the best by the CEW than you can trust that it’s a product worth trying. Birchbox’s CEW boxes come in two options – the mass appeal box, and the prestige box.
The Mass Appeal collection costs $15 (although a savings of $5 could be had if you bought the two boxes together like I did). The box features a Burt’s Bees® Lip Crayon in Sedona Sands (full size), Cetaphil® Gentle Skin Cleansing Cloths – a travel size pack of 10, LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask – sample sized, Olay™ Regenerist Luminous Dark Circle Correcting HydraSwirl™ Eye Cream (full size), Rimmel Scandaleyes Rockin’ Curves Mascara (full size), Simple® Skincare Ultra-Light Gel Moisturizer (full size).
Birchbox says the box is valued at $68, I haven’t done the exact math myself but I can tell you that for $15 it is a really great deal. The Burt’s Bees Lip Crayon is actually one of my all time favorite lip products (which I’ve purchased repeatedly), and I’ve been looking to replace my Simple moisturizer which I’ve just reached the last drops of – so it’s definitely full of products I have or will use.
The Prestige Headliners Beauty Collection costs $18 and features Benefit Cosmetics They’re Real! Push-Up Liner – Sample size, COOLA® SPF 50 Sport – Mango – Sample size, Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist – Crème Vanillée – Travel size, GLAMGLOW POWERMUD™ Dualcleanse Treatment – Sample size, GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD™ Hydrating Treatment – Deluxe sample size, Marula Pure Marula Facial Oil – Sample size, NUDESTIX Lip + Cheek Pencil – Full size.
I’ve been dying to try the ever-popular Nudestix, which admittedly was my main motivation behind buying this box – the Nudestix pencil alone would have cost $24, which makes this box more than worth it based on that alone. I do love all the other samples except for the Fekkai Hair Fragrance Mist. I actually love the concept behind the mist, however I abhor the scent. I just can’t do vanilla (or worse vanilla cream/creme) scented items, it just turns my stomach – which is odd because I don’t have a problem with musk which feels like scent cousin.
Either way, I ended up paying somewhere around $37 for these two boxes, and a dr.jart+ face mask ($6 on Birchbox.com) – which is more than fair considering that I ended up with five full sized items (six, including the mask) and quite a few excellent samples. You can buy either box by clicking here.
Do you subscribe to Birchbox? Are you planning to grab one of these boxes or both?
Looks like a great subscription box! I love all of the brands I see especially the Glam Glow. Their masks are amazing!!
This sounds like an amazing beauty box!! I love trying out new products, this would be a great way to do so.
I love Birch Box! It is my favorite gift to give friends- I think the awesome samples are always spot on as to the hottest trends and finds!
What a fun box of goodies to arrive at your doorstep! Would love to try that GlamGlow treatment – I hear such awesome things about that brand!
What fun! These beauty boxes look like a great way to discover and sample a wise range of products without spending a fortune.
I absolutely love Birchbox! They really do have some great samples in each delivery.
I have seen a lot of reviews for the Birch boxes and they are always good. I spy some items in that little beauty that I would like to try.
The Birch box has been one I would love to try and one I have been extremely interested in for sure. The Nudestix is the item I most want to try as well. Thanks so much for sharing.
I subscribed to about 3 boxes but put it on hold. I just wasn’t thrilled with it. I think these boxes you show have some good products in them. I really like the Rachel Zoe box of style even though it’s not all cosmetics she does include a few make up items. Great review as always!!

Thanks Rosemary! Yeah, sometimes I pause them just so I can have a chance to go through all the samples – they tend to pile up! But I’ve had a few duds here and there with subscription services, so I’m more careful when deciding which box to choose nowadays. Was the Rachel Zoe box done with Fancy?
