Best in Beauty: Redken Glow Dry Diamond Oil

The packaging for Redken’s Glow Dry Diamon Oil is insane, and I can’t get enough of it! To be honest, I was initially rather worried about this product – being in the beauty game for a while now, we all know that sometimes stellar packaging is there to make up for lackluster product. However, I was pleased (*cough* thrilled) to find that’s definitely not the case with this beauty.

So about that packaging, Redken actually offers quite a few dry oils including the Shatterproof Shine – which is a golden bottle, and Shatterproof Shine Intense – which is a sleeker grey/black bottle, and of course this one, which is in a pink bottle. They’re all great examples of packaging done right. I love how it actually looks like the bottle has facets of a diamond. It is heavy glass, so I would recommend you pop this is a smaller container or buy the travel size at Ulta ($10) if you’re traveling and leave this one on your vanity at home.

The thing about hair oils is that you don’t know how much you “need” it until you try it. What I mean is that we go through all this effort to heat style our hair, and using a diamond oil makes all the effort even more worth it. This dry oil is meant to decrease blow-dry time, and increase shine – without the grease and stickiness and definitely minus the oily look. You apply prior to styling, although I also use this oil on my hair when I get out of the shower even when I don’t plan on styling with heat – it really keeps frizzy hair tamed.

The oil relies on heat-responsive silicone technology to deliver lightweight protection and shine – which makes it the first of its kind. Every girl in my family has a different hair texture – so this was tried on hair that is extremely curly to wavy/straight and all of us came to the same conclusion – that it’s really effective. Personally, I loved how soft my hair felt and the oil does not leave any weird residual smell (like some hair oils tend to do) and you can definitely see that there is a good healthy shine going on after you’ve used this. And while this is in the pricier range in terms of haircare, you only need the tiniest bit so the bottle will last you a while (even if, like me, you have sisters pilfering your beauty stash). Also, after hearing me rave about this oil on instagram, my friend Rosemary of NYC Style, and a Little Cannoli picked up some of her own while in NYC the other weekend and I literally thought she had stopped by a salon overnight her hair looked so perfect!

I have tried this product, unfortunately, I cannot locate it in Canada. If you could direct me to where I can purchase some more, I would be very grateful.

    Thank you,

Hi Maria! I’m not too familiar with Canadian retailers, you can definitely try your local salon (if they use Redken products, they’ll probably know where to get a hold of it). I’ll definitely do a search and see if I can find a place – if I do, I’ll send you an email!
