Vitamins have always been a part of my routine. When I was a kid I used to take those cartoon pills, and now that I’m older I try to take fish oil and other supplements with my daily dose of allergy medicine. In the same way that my antihistamine tackles my aversion to pollen, vitamins have the potential to address some of my beauty hurdles. My most recent beauty routine shake-up has come by way of The Vitamin Shoppe, where you can find some of my favorite new beauty tools to keep me glowing from the inside out!
We all want gorgeous, glowing skin. And yes please, we’d like to have it without having to don piles of foundation. Makeup is my jam, but skincare is the bread base for all that jam – and the healthier my skin is, the better my makeup looks. Which is why I include biotin in my beauty routine. Biotin is actually a member of the B-complex family of essential vitamins, it’s essential for carbohydrate, fat and amino acid metabolism. But I take it to support healthy skin, hair, and nails – via it’s promotion of cellular energy production.
Another favorite is vitamin E which works to block free radicals from the body, which play a large part in the aging process. Now that we’ve tackled beauty from the inside, let’s talk about the outside. Coconut and avocado oil are essential for anyone’s routine. I love using coconut oil to remove stubborn eyelash glue, and glitter-heavy eyeliner and eyeshadow. It’s also excellent for face and hair masks. I love the Vitamin Shoppe’s avocado oil for two reasons. One, it’s a high quality oil, and two because the packaging reveals just how on point the Vitamin Shoppe is with their products. The dark glass bottle that the oil is packaged in aligns what I’ve learned about many beauty oils – dark packaging means that the oil inside is being protected from diminished quality by keeping the suns harmful UV rays at bay. This means a longer shelf life for natural beauty products like this. Love it!
Speaking of beauty lessons, one of my favorite new additions to my daily beauty routine is this Hyaluronic Acid Serum. Hyaluronic Acid has been quite popular in the beauty industry for a while now. Due to it’s moisturizing and rejuvenative properties, a good HA product has been on my list for some time and now that I’ve finally gotten my hands on it I can see why people love it. The trick with hyaluronic acid (which is a moisture magnet) is to pair it up with a good moisturizer. It can benefit people differently based on their skin, but for me, it’s helped clear up some stubborn acne scars.
Speaking of creams, the Alpha Lipoic Acid Anti-Aging CrΓ¨me is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a solid anti-aging cream. I’m really partial to this one because it’s luxurious but doesn’t sit heavy on your skin. No one wants a cream that sits on the surface, because that means it’s probably not earning its due. This one gets soaked right up.
You can find all of these products alongside a wide assortment of creams, serums, essential oils, carrier oils, biotin and collagen products, and vitamins from loads of well-known vendors at any of Vitamin Shoppe’s 800+ stores or online at www.vitaminshoppe.com. Until recently I never even knew that the Vitamin Shoppe was a beauty and skin care lovers paradise!

now that i’m 35 i’ll take any thing to help keep me looking youthful π haha
The older I get the more cognizant I become of how beauty and health starts from within- what you feed your body becomes evident on your face so vitamins have become a regular part of my beauty routine- although your post has alerted me to some things I didn’t know- which is why I will be making a bee-line for the Vitamin Shoppe this week- armed with your post bookmarked on my iphone!

A few years ago and I would’ve brushed off the idea of taking vitamins, but now I’m all about taking those extra steps to take care of me. So glad you stopped by Melissa! <3
If Stephanie needs at 35, I definitely need at 41, lol. I love the products mentioned and I am trying to pay better attention to my skin especially during the summer months.

Lol! Um you and Stephanie are hoarding the fountain of youth over there! π

Same here – coconut oil is the BEST.
Omg! I’m a huge fan of the Vitamin Shoppe, but have never come across that liquid coconut oil before – that looks life changing! I need so many of these in my beauty arsenal right now!

It’s so good! And the packaging is super convenient too, my old one was a tub and used to fall off the shelf all the time – Vitamin Shoppe is amazing, isn’t it? π
So important to take care of your skin as you age… I’ve tried coconut oil but now you’ve inspired me to try avocado oil.

Avocado oil is really good, I’ve been using it more for my hair. I’ll mix up a mask before I shower or use a teensy bit to smooth away flyaways. Good stuff!
Cool fact about the dark bottles! I need to really pick one skincare routine. I never know what to do.

Try everything! I still experiment with my skincare routine, and really what our skin needs can change on a seasonally/weekly/daily basis. Like I can use an oil cleanser in the winter but definitely not in the summer or I will have the MOTHER of all breakouts. I recommend checking out Caroline Hirons blog, she’s like the master skincare guru, here’s her cheat sheet for skincare routines: http://www.carolinehirons.com/2013/06/routines-cheat-sheet.html
Thanks for the motivation I need to start taking vitamins… I know I need to but I’ve been procrastinating!

I know! It’s so easy to forget! If I didn’t have those little weekly pill containers I would be a lost cause, haha! The way I try to see it is taking a couple pills is one the small thing I can do for myself daily, that will pay off in the long-run. So I try to stick to it, for future me’s sake.
Love that coconut oil! Just got some myself. But this is motivating me to do better with the vitamins!

Woo! Yeah, I always thought the whole coconut oil thing was just a weird trend until I tried it myself. Now I’m hooked. π
