ZIPZ Wine Review

reviewdisclaimer

I first heard about ZIPZ Wine at the Blogger Bash conference last summer, they had been giving away samples to conference attendees who – like me – were absolutely intrigued by their ingenious packaging. Shaped like a wine glass? Portable? Sturdy and leak-free? Yes please!

After the conference I found out that they had been on Shark Tank – which I’m sure you’ve heard of – where they made an impressive deal with the Tanks’ Kevin O’Leary. I’ll spare you my thoughts on that particular episode – but suffice it to say that I’m of the opinion that Kevin got away with a plum deal here. Judging by the reactions of Blogger Bash attendees alone, ZIPZ was bound to be a hit.

I was recently sent one each of their 4 wine varieties including Chardonnay 2012, Cabernet Sauvignon 2010, Pinot Grigio 2013, and Merlot 2012. I still can’t get over how great the packaging is. These are great for taking to the park, or if you’re road tripping and don’t want to risk having a bottle broken. It’s also great for picnics! ZIPZ portions are very generous, about 6.3 ounces – four ZIPZ wines are equal to one bottle of wine.

I prefer to use my ZIPZ for cooking and entertaining. They’re so easy to unzip and are completely mess free. I have an issue with opening bottles of wine – I always manage to destroy the cork and it ends up floating in the bottle. With ZIPZ, I just unzip and serve. I recently used the Chardonnay for probably the best mussels I’ve ever made. I used Ina Garten’s recipe as inspiration for mine – and you can find it here if you like – also with fresh pasta from Arthur Avenue in the Bronx. It was amazing! And I didn’t have to crack open an expensive bottle of wine to get that great flavor.

You can find out more about the brand here, as well as purchase any (or all) of their ZIPZ Wine varieties!

Restaurant Review: Dinner at Grace’s Trattoria

I recently had the pleasure of joining Grace Balducci Doria as well as key members of her staff for a press tasting of some exciting dishes on their menu. Having never been to Grace’s before I was completely blown away with how delicious the items on their menu were and am really looking forward to the next time I return!
