7 Scents for Spring

Spring is almost here and it couldn’t be more welcome! I don’t know how the weather is where you live, but frankly I’m a little tired of slip-sliding over ice patches in the city. As we head in to warmer weather I thought it would be really fun to share 7 Scents for Spring – a collection of some of my personal favorite Spring scents, as well as some exciting scents that have just hit store shelves!

7 Scents for Spring

TOCCA Isabel – One of the latest additions to the TOCCA family, Isabel promises to be an ideal fragrance this upcoming season with notes of Mediterranean Orange, Pear, Spanish Rose and (love this) of leather, and vetiver.

Library of Flowers Honeycomb – Honeycomb is redolent of lazy Spring days where the sun is comforting and warm and you can smell the sweet scent of fresh flowers. Plus, Library of Flowers’ packaging is irresistibly beautiful. Top: Sugared Fig, Middle: Ambrosia Honey, Bottom: Royal Bee Blossom. Library of Flowers also recommends their Kirimashi Air!

ESCADA Turquoise Summer – To be fair, this scent is more designated for summer, but if you’re into bright fruit-infused scents that mellow out with the more sensual sandalwood and vanilla, then this one is right up your alley!

CLEAN Air – I absolutely adore this fragrance. I was introduced to the CLEAN brand a couple of years ago by my younger sister (she’s one classy gal) and now I own quite a lot of CLEAN scents. My most recent acquisition is CLEAN Air. It’s a very versatile fragrance because not only is it a gorgeous, lush, crisp, yet woodsy scent, but it also brings out really great notes when paired with other CLEAN fragrances! Top notes feature bergamot blossoms, lush green accord, and mountain air accord; mid notes include sparkling freesia and dewy peonies, and base notes boast enveloping musk, cashmere woods, and white amber.

Illume Cactus verde

Illume Cactus Verde – My sister loves this scent! And who could blame her? How outrageously Spring-ready does this fragrance sound? “Feel as brilliant as a bloom and as sweet as a succulent. A bright blend of cassis, pink sea salt, and wild geranium with a hint of avocado.” Can’t get enough of Illume (me either!)? Here’s what they recommend for Spring!

TokyoMilk Le Petit No. 2 – Typically, I’d say anything from their Dark collection, but for Spring I’m going to have to defer to the lovely brand themselves:

Bath & Body Works French Lavender & Honey – This is one of my all-time favorite scents. Normally I would not splurge on the perfume version of B&BW fragrances but the French Lavender & Honey line smells so amazing that I did (twice!). It’s a lovely floral scent with a slight sort of fruity/citrus undertone and a great musk and honey base that balances it all out.

POPSUGAR September Box Review & Exclusive Coupon Code!

subscription box, POPSUGAR, Must Have, Lifestyle, Beauty, Subscription Box

I was recently sent, as a POPSUGAR Select Blogger, one of POPSUGAR’s ever-popular monthly Must Have subscription box for the month of September. I was really excited when I heard I would be receiving one of their Must Have boxes because they have a really good reputation with many of the beauty blogs that I read.

The September Must Have box included items that revolved around the theme of DIY – or Do It Yourself. Here’s what was inside:

Barr-Co Diffuser

Barr-Co. Original Scent Reed Diffuser (ARV $46) – In the original scent, a handcrafted blend of milk, oatmeal, and vetiver. I’m especially fond of vetiver as a scent, and this original blend smells so good – it’s warm and interesting at the same time, very comforting. It would make for an excellent gift too!

PS You're Invited

P.S. – You’re Invited by Erica Domesek (ARV $26) – I haven’t had a chance to properly go through the entire book, but it is excellent for those who love to DIY, those new to DIY, and even those who are just looking for a little inspiration. Also an excellent gift! P.S. Be sure to check out Erica’s site P.S. I Made This… by clicking here!

Rifle Paper Co Coasters

Rifle Paper Co. Coaster Set (ARV $16) – These coaster’s are adorable, I really really love them – they’re girlie and colorful, but also ladylike at the same time. I’m really torn because I want to keep them for myself, but I also know of a family member who would flip for these, lol! Oh, what to do…

MyKitsch Headbands

Kitsch Headbands (ARV $15.99) – If you are looking for a perfect gift for your girlfriends, your sisters, your female relatives, or yourself, then this is it. These Kitsch Headbands come in really vibrant colors and work as ponytails, headbands, and even keeping posters in a roll (aka “emergencies”).

$25 Shoptiques Gift Card – Shoptiques is an online shop/marketplace, they have a lot of unique designer pieces and I’m hoping to use my giftcard toward a Christmas gift for one of my lucky loved ones.

That’s It. Bar (ARV $1.67+) – Okay, so get this – this bar only has two ingredients – apples and pears. That’s it (lol!).

Sharkies (ARV $1.50) – These quick energy boost gummies are great for workouts and made from organic ingredients, I’m actually giving this to a friend who participates in group sports, is very athletic, and will love these.

Overall, at $35 a month, this box is a steal. I love every single item in my box, they are all things that I will use or would make a beyond great gift. I’m particularly happy with the Barr-Co. diffuser, I’ll probably buy it again when I’m all through with it. The total retail value of my box was about $132, well over three times (almost four) what I would have paid for it!

Even if you’re not a fan of everything in your box, it’s still a great way to receive items (usually big ticket) that make impressive gifts for any occasion. Also the box itself, as a subscription, makes a stellar gift!

If you’d like to subscribe to POPSUGAR, I have a special code just for you! Right now until October 20th use the code SEPTSELECT to get $10 off any new 3 month subscription of the POPSUGAR Must Have box – just click here to sign up and use the coupon code SEPTSELECT when you check out!

Also, be sure to come back and let me know what your thought’s are about the POPSUGAR Must Have box!

Fresh Scents with FragranceNet.com!

I’ve been on the hunt for a new fresh fragrance to try. I wanted something fresh and bright – perfect for the start of summer. So when I was recommended Exceptional because you are by Exceptional Perfumes – which I learned had a spicy floral scent – I was eager to try the scent out for myself.

I love how they package each piece in a baggy – that way if anything leaks, it doesn’t get everywhere!

Exceptional because you are is the perfect scent to wear to a evening out – for me it’s a little too heavy to wear for everyday purposes. But I like layering the body wash, lotion, and perfume together – it just made me smell so good and the scent lasted all day. I’m especially happy to have a nice scent with special events like graduations and birthdays coming up!
True to description, Exceptional because you are has a “crisp elegant introduction, a lightly spiced floral heart, and a sensual dry down”. It’s one of those smell’s that everyone compliments you on, and you can’t help but sniff your own wrist throughout the night because you like the scent so much too. I have to admit it’s one of my more “grown up” fragrances.

I love the little atomizer and travel size perfume – perfect for throwing into my purse!

From FragranceNet, this new scent is one of my new favorites. FragranceNet always offers a lot of great deals like 20% off any order, and other similar sales. They also offer makeup, hair-care, aromatherapy, skincare, and gift sets. What’s really great is that if they don’t sell a perfume or product that you are already a fan of, you can request it – which I think is so refreshing to see a brand receptive to it’s customer’s requests.

Personally, I’ve already been browsing through their site looking for a gift for my dad for Father’s Day. I don’t know why but perfume’s and cologne’s always make a really nice gift, don’t they? They also do free shipping on all orders over $70, which makes it convenient when you’re shopping for a few people or stocking up on gifts. As for me, I’ve got my eye on the Aqua Di Gio by Armani – which I know my dad would LOVE, and at over %15 off – I think my wallet will love it too, lol!

Have you checked out FragranceNet before? Have you done any father’s day shopping yet? What fragrances are your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!

Rich Girl/Poor Girl: Summer Scents

I love perfume, but unfortunately my life has been a mixed bag of scented experiences. Born into a cloud of over-excited heady perfume using relatives, I grew up leaning towards more subtle, fresh, and sweet scents. Having experienced breathing in one to many mouthfuls of some of my relatives alcohol heavy cologne (which I’m sure may have caused some sort of brain damage), I was dissuaded from purchasing anything outside of light juvenile sprays. Luckily, during my high school years I attended school near a Sephora and was soon sampling all sorts of perfumes with a range of notes and scents – and I soon learned to appreciate the musky, floral, spicy scents that I once despised.

Feeling a little more up to snuff than my younger self in the scents department, here are the high end and low end options of my favorite summer scents!

The Garden Collection by Gucci

I’m a sucker for great lines of perfume, in fact one of my favorites happen to be the extensive DKNY Be Delicious series. But my favorite summer scents come from The Garden Collection by Gucci.

The first of this collection, Gorgeous Gardenia is a sensual perfume. There’s something warm and familiar about it’s scent, while also being light and floral- it’s quite an elegant smell. Gardenia, red berries, and pears gives this perfume its memorable scent.

The second, Gracious Tuberose has a sharper smell. Top notes of violet leaf, a heart of tuberose, and base notes of cistus and white cedarwood give this perfume a headier scent than the Gardenia. It’s the more mature scent of the collection.

The last scent of this collection, and my favorite of them all, is Glamorous Magnolia. This scent starts off smelling really fresh and light, but ends with a nice sweet sandalwood musk that I really just love. Citrus notes, with a lingering base of sandalwood and musk, leave this perfume and all the other ones from The Garden Collection by Gucci priced at $70 for a 1.7oz bottle.

Tahitian Orchid by Calgon, The Take Me Away! Collection…

I really really love the perfume version of this favorite Calgon scent. It has a sweet but fresh floral scent that really makes you feel bright and pretty. However, it can be pretty hard to find. Your best bet would be to go to your local KMart, Walmart, or other large department store and see if they have it in stock. If not, the body spray and lotion set is equally good – and will give the scent more staying power if you use it together- and it’s super easy to find at department stores and online. AVR $11 for a 1.5 fl oz bottle, or $15 for the body care set.

On either side of the price spectrum, any and all of these scents are a wonderful addition to any gals beauty and body care repertoire!
