The Road to “OZ”: New Clip & Polyvore Fashion

So I know I’ve said it like a million zillion times, but I am super excited to see Oz The Great and Powerful – which hits theaters next week! It was great to see so many of my blogging friends attend the actual red carpet premiere  (check out one of their posts here & here & here), and I’ve probably viewed the trailer enough times to know it by heart. So being of the digitally creative sort I decided to throw together three polyvore boards, one for each of the witches in Oz! Here they are:

Theodora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

I put this one together based on the character of Theodora, played by Mila Kunis. Theodora is initially a “good” witch, I loved the usage of her red, black, and white outfit in the movie – which isn’t as costume-y as Rachel Weisz’s Evanora outfit, and I tried to capture a little of the costume’s nuances here.

Glinda the Good, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

I love how princess-like and ethereal Glinda’s white costume is in the film. Glinda, played by Michelle Williams, is (obviously, lol!) the good witch of the South. I loved the long sleeves on her white gown, so I went with a one shoulder spin on that look – and aren’t those shoes absolutely gorgeous!?

Evanora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

I know she’s evil, but I just love love love the costume for Rachel Weisz’s Evanora! I went for a similarly dark look here, and just had too much fun putting this one together – I figure, if you’re going to be bad you might as well look good while you’re being it!

As excited for Oz The Great and Powerful as I am?! Awesome, this is seriously the number one movie on my “must-watch” list this year! I hope it is on yours too!

Here’s an exclusive clip of Theodora and Evanora!

New Posters Released for Oz The Great And Powerful!

So you guys already know that I’m pretty excited to see Oz The Great And Powerful – I remember falling in love with The Wizard of Oz when I was little (although the flying monkeys totally creeped me out), and cannot wait to see the magic that Disney has worked in creating a backstory for one of the most famous stories ever told!

Judging by the way the trailer and how the posters look – this film is bound to get nominated for something! Right now I’m completely enthralled with the artwork featured in the movie posters – everything looks so vivid and whimsical. Plus, I can’t wait to see Rachel Weisz as Evanora, one of the three witches (I’m guessing she’s the darker more devious one of the three) of the Land of Oz!

Starring James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, and Zach Braff Oz The Great And Powerful is directed by Sam Raimi and slated for release on March 8, 2013. Until then, I’ve included the newest poster and a couple stills from Oz The Great And Powerful for your viewing pleasure – aren’t they beautiful?!

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

Oz The Great and Powerful : March 8th!

Oz The Great and Powerful is one movie that I’m ridiculously excited for!  Oscar Diggs (played by James Franco) is a small time circus musician with questionable ethics. When Oscar is hurled into the Land of Oz, his dreams of fame and fortune are extinguished as he is drawn into the epic problems that face the people of Oz. The witches – played by Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz (one of my all-time favorite actresses) are not convinced that Oscar is the wizard everyone thinks he is, and Oscar must utilize his magical arts, ingenuity, and wizardry to become a better man, and The Wizard of Oz!

First of all, I’m in love with the casting done on this film – I absolutely love Rachel Weisz, and can’t wait to see James Franco as Oscar! Plus the costumes and design of the film looks breathtaking. While Oz The Great and Powerful doesn’t hit theatres until March 8th, I’ve included two of the movies posters (one above, and one beneath) and the trailer for your viewing pleasure!

As excited as I am??? Check out the movie site, facebook, and twitter to stay on top of new updates and exclusive content!!!

Feature Film Friday: Runaway Jury (2003)

I absolutely love thriller movies, especially if they involve journalism, the courts, and rogue justice seekers. I blame my dad. Thanks to him I’ve seen loads of cliche’ guy movies- The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, A Few Good Men, The Dirty Dozen, yup I’ve seem ‘em all. Now don’t get me wrong my mom feeds my guy movie luvin’ too; without her I would have never seen Death Wish-and ever since I saw that flick I walk around NYC with a load of quarters in a sock tucked away in my pocket. In fact, it was my mom who gave me Runaway Jury as a gift way back in middle school. You know me too well mom. I loved it.

Despite my best efforts, I find writing a brief synopsis for Runaway Jury as easy as looking for vegetarian friendly food in a butchers shop. So I snatched the tagline from the IMDb description: “A juror on the inside and a woman on the outside manipulate a court trial involving a major gun manufacturer.” Not enough info for you? Well then, here’s the trailer:

This drama/thriller is definitely worth seeing. The cast is stellar (hello- where else will you get Hackman and Hoffman on the same screen? and don’t get me started on Rachel and John!), and the scenes are electric!

Memorable Runaway Jury Quote:

Gentlemen, trials are too important to be left up to juries.

- Rankin Fitch

Feature Film Friday: The Mummy (1999)

This is probably one of the best Friday night flicks ever. I love this movie so much that I’ve bought it numerous times (when they get all worn out from over-usage, aka somebody dropping it on the floor and getting it all scratched up). In fact, I love this movie so much that I feel it’s one of those rare movies that the trailer alone summarizes the movie sufficiently enough to bring in an audience, so here you go!

Adventure, romance, and  intrigue, The Mummy is pure unadulterated fun! You’ll be glad you saw it (if you haven’t already)!
