Review: Live Beautifully Natural Beauty Products!

I love when I stumble upon a beauty brand that is devoted to making people feel good inside and out, especially when said brand has such a fun background as Live Beautifully’s! Live Beautifully, which creates unique and natural beauty products, was started by husband and wife duo – Aaron and Nicole Wildasin. The high school sweethearts, being of the artistic sort, both have a background in graphic design and were inspired by nature found in the Colorado Rockies to create a brand of beauty and personal care products that are both natural and unique.

I had a chance to try a few of their products and I have to say what first caught my eye was their packaging. I can definitely see Aaron and Nicole’s design roots showing – the packaging for all of Live Beautifully’s products are beautiful! If you have a moment, you should definitely stop by their site and see how pretty everything is – very aesthetically pleasing.

The second thing I noticed was how ridiculously well-priced their products are – lip balms are as low as $4! And they have sales! I don’t know about you, but I love that Live Beautifully is a natural brand that is creative (hello, Raspberry Iced Tea lipbalm anyone?) and affordable!

Live Beautifully, Summer Fields, Almond Biscotti

I tried their Summer Fields mini perfume, Almond Biscotti old fashioned lip balm jelly, Urban Breeze solid cologne, and Sweet Moscato lip balm. The mini perfume and solid cologne are perfect for traveling. Initially I felt like they smelled quite concentrated, but once I applied them to my skin the scent mellowed out but still lingered until the end of the day. Summer Fields has “Notes of: Soft Vetiver, Sweet Oak Moss, Wildflowers, Baked Earth”; I love most anything that smells of vetiver and this scent is no exception, it’ll transport you right to a warm summer day.

Urban Breeze is more of a masculine scent, it has more of a clean cologne scent. The consistency is pretty hard and stable until you rub your fingers in it, then it sort of melts as you rub your fingers in it.

Sweet Moscato Lip Balm, Live Beautifully, Natural Beauty Products, Affordable

My favorite item right now though is the Sweet Moscato lip balm, I usually get terrible chapped lips during the colder months but I’ve consistently been using the lip balm – which, by the way, smells (and tastes) amazing! It’s sort of sweet with just a splash of tart, my lips are soft as ever. Plus, Live Beautifully has so many fun flavors, they would definitely make a great gift, or party favor for a bachelorette party or spa day!

Boots No7 Perfectly Bronzed Dual Bronzer a.k.a. The Best Bronzer EVER!

Every so often you come across a beauty product that works so well that you can’t help but rave about it to your family, to your friends, even to random strangers who become lucky recipients of unwarranted beauty recommendations! For me, right now, that product is Boots No7 Perfectly Bronzed Dual Bronzer.

Boots Perfectly Bronzed
First off, the packaging is a sturdy bronze oval-shaped compact. What I love most is that it has a really generously sized mirror. Boots products tend to run with a minimalist design, that being said, while I normally would like to see more artistic license with the packaging the simple yet sleek design of the compact reminds me of summer in the Hampton’s (not that I’ve ever spent a summer in the Hampton’s – but you get my drift).

Boots Perfectly BronzerBoots Dual Bronzer
This is the bronzer that I’ve dreamed of – but until recently hadn’t really found. I’ve used NARS Laguna and I’ve found that while this cult-hit bronzer was beautiful, it just didn’t show up well on my skin. I’ve also dabbed in matte bronzers, and bronzers with a enough glitter to make the lights of NYC dim in comparison. This one is perfectly buildable, with the right side of the bronzer being a matte deep tan bronze, and the left being a lighter version with a bit of subtle glitter. On minimum application, this has to be the most gorgeous natural looking bronzer I’ve ever used. Perk – not a lot of fallout, so you get the full value of the product!

I’ve also found that this bronzer works like a dream when you’re looking for a natural contour – and it’s also great if you’re new to contouring and are nervous about streaking. It really is so beautiful and can give you either natural glow and shading or, when layered up, can give you a bronzed out glam look.

The Boots No7 Perfectly Bronzed Dual Bronzer retails at about $12 and can be found online here, or at Duane Reade (if you’re in the city!), or Walgreens!

EBOOST, for natural, long-lasting energy!

There are a zillion and one energy products out there on the market. But EBOOST is one of the few that boasts natural ingredients that provide a LASTING energy boost. I was always wary of energy drinks and supplements – I never knew exactly what was in them and I completely dreaded the crash that inevitably followed.

I actually have tried EBOOST before and the taste was alright – it was the orange one, and while I appreciated the boost of energy I just couldn’t imagine drinking it every time I needed some energy. Luckily in the Holiday VoxBox from Influenster I had a chance to try the Pink Lemondade version. The pink lemonade has a far better flavor – and if you’ve had energy drinks before then you know how hard it is to find an energy drink that tastes drinkable let alone good. I should warn you, it does have a bitter aftertaste, it doesn’t last long at all, but really just tastes like orange rind.

eboost10

The packet advises that you mix it in with 12oz of water. Initially I mixed it with 12 oz, using the mason jars I bought (thanks Pinterest!) but ended up moving it to a larger pitcher because it was a little too sweet for my tastes and I wanted to add some more water. So personally, I’d mix it with like 20oz of ice cold water. It fizzes up like soda in the beginning, but then dies down a bit and tastes only subtly carbonated.

I would definitely recommend EBOOST to athletes, people who exercise- like when you need a boost before starting your cardio routine at home, and definitely students. I know I have a super full semester this Spring and I’ll definitely be needing an extra boost. I used my EBOOST when I had to pull an all-nighter and it keep me feeling awake enough that I powered through the night. But what I love most about EBOOST is that it gives you natural energy that lasts and contains vitamins and super nutrients like Vitamin C,  Vitamin D, and B-12! That to me is definitely a winning formula!

Naturals VoxBox 2012!

Hey guys! I’m super excited- there are so many great things going on over here on The NYC Talon, and I’m so thrilled to be able to share them with you! First off, I’m having an amazing pinterest-themed giveaway for a $225 Hype crossbody bag right now – so if you haven’t entered then please do. Secondly, next month is my birthday month and so I’ll be spreading the joy will my amazing readers with a super special giveaway worth over $150! So stay tuned! And my last bit of exciting news is that I was one of the lucky influensters chosen to receive the Naturals VoxBox! Woo hoo!

I joined influenster less than a year ago, and I absolutely love the brand-consumer relationship that influenster promotes. My first VoxBox had been the Love VoxBox – which I did indeed love (and you can read all about my box, and what Influenster is here). So when I found out I had been selected to receive the Natruals VoxBox I was pretty darn excited! Anyways, without further delay here are the products that were in my Naturals VoxBox 2012:

The Original Dish Drying Mat ($4.99; Bed, Bath & Beyond)

I really loved this mat. I know a lot of people will be using it for their dishes- and I totally will too – but I can’t get over how great this works for drying makeup brushes! This mat is a perfect flat, clean, breathable, fast-absorbing surface (it holds more than 4x its weight in water) – that folds and stores super easily.

Lypsyl Intense Protection LypMoisturizer ($2.99)

I’ve always been a massive fan of Lypsyl. Their LypMoisturizer is my go-to winter chapstick, so I was happy to see an old favorite in the box.

EBOOST

EBOOST is daily health booster, that’s supposed to boost your mood, focus, and immunity with natural ingredients. It sounds really great (and tastes good too) as I do tend to get sick sometime during the fall and winter months. I can’t really give a completely thorough review as I only received one packet, but based on that – it’s a great health booster!

CleanWell Individual Hand Sanitizer Wipe

Sticking with the natural theme of this box, the CleanWell wipes are made up of all natural ingredients that are easy on the earth. These are really great because if you’re like me and have sensitive skin, and alcohol heavy wipes are a no-go, then these CleanWell wipes are right up your alley. They’re really mild (you can even use it on your face) – but work well enough to give a thorough clean.

GEODEO Natural Deodorant Plus Detox Complex 24hr Protection, in Island ($5.99)

I love a good deodorant. As somebody who takes public NYC transportation, I can fully appreciate the benefits of good deodorant (and the horrors of having to smell somebody’s lack thereof). GEODEO’s deodorant has a detox complex made out of volcanic minerals, and Icelandic algae that work to fight impurities. Vitamin E fights free radicals, bamboo and aloe nourish skin, and enzymes neutralize odors. Also, it smells really really good!

NECTRESSE

Made from monk fruit, Nectresse is a zero calorie sweetener that actually does taste like sugar! I used my sample packet on a bowl of strawberries- yum!

Country Life Maxi-Hair Maximized dietary supplements ($17.99 for 60 Tablets)

I haven’t run a complete scientific study on the benefits of these pills, but what I can tell you is that they are choc-full of vitamins, biotin, and MSM – which are all great to take if you’re looking to bring a little life back into your hair, nails, and skin. I can’t wait to see my long term results! What girl doesn’t want to give her skin, nails, and hair some nourishment?!

Altogether I was very happy with the Naturals VoxBox. There’s not a product in here that I wouldn’t get behind. I’m particularly excited about the Country Life pills, and the GEODEO! The drying mat and the Lypsyl are already being put to good use, and my samples of EBOOST, CleanWell, and NECTRESSE have all been used.
