Cinderella Trailer & Images!

If I had to choose which Disney story was the most timeless, I’d have to say Cinderella is it. At least for me (and zillion of others out there). So you can bet I was pretty thrilled to see that Disney has gone ahead and re-made an old favorite. It’s not I think that Cinderella needed an update, so much as I think the audience needs a reminder of this classic, timeless, magical tale – and I for one can’t wait to see it!

#100FootJourney Gratin Dauphinois (Scalloped Potatoes) Recipe!

Food has the singular ability to bring people together, which is one reason why I’m gearing up to see The Hundred-Foot Journey this August. Starring Helen Mirren, The Hundred Foot Journey tells the tale of two cultures and people learning to live and grow together.

If you’re like me and can’t wait to see the movie – especially those gratuitous food shots, here’s a great Gratin Dauphinois recipe (otherwise known as scalloped potatoes) courtesy of The Hundred-Foot Journey and Le Cordon Blue Cuisine Foundations, so it’s sure to make your mouth water!

P.S. Here’s the trailer as well, if you haven’t had a chance to see it!

Disney’s Exciting New Maleficent Trailer Features New Lana Del Ray Song!

Lana Del Ray’s reimagined rendition of classic Disney tune”Once Upon a Dream” is amazing! If you haven’t yet heard it click here – where it’s free on Google Play for a limited time, or watch the trailer below to hear parts of the song. It’s a more haunting and dark version – and hearing in the trailer has gotten me all sorts of excited to see the movie!

Disney’s trend of familiarizing the audience with some pretty infamous villain’s (Loki – The Avengers, Theodora – Oz The Great and Powerful), continues with Maleficent, starring Angelina Jolie. Maleficent tells the untold story of Sleeping Beauty‘s villain Maleficent, giving viewers a more complete picture of the classic tale. Starring Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, and Elle Fanning as Aurora,  I love the idea of seeing the untold story behind iconic characters and this one look’s like it’s going to be fantastic!

Lana Del Ray’s version of the fairytale tune will feature in Maleficent’s credits. Maleficent open’s in theaters on May 30th 2014!

The Road to “OZ”: New Clip & Polyvore Fashion

So I know I’ve said it like a million zillion times, but I am super excited to see Oz The Great and Powerful – which hits theaters next week! It was great to see so many of my blogging friends attend the actual red carpet premiere  (check out one of their posts here & here & here), and I’ve probably viewed the trailer enough times to know it by heart. So being of the digitally creative sort I decided to throw together three polyvore boards, one for each of the witches in Oz! Here they are:

Theodora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

Theodora, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent by the-inbox featuring a white gold tennis bracelet

I put this one together based on the character of Theodora, played by Mila Kunis. Theodora is initially a “good” witch, I loved the usage of her red, black, and white outfit in the movie – which isn’t as costume-y as Rachel Weisz’s Evanora outfit, and I tried to capture a little of the costume’s nuances here.

Glinda the Good, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

Glinda the Good, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent by the-inbox featuring diamond earrings

I love how princess-like and ethereal Glinda’s white costume is in the film. Glinda, played by Michelle Williams, is (obviously, lol!) the good witch of the South. I loved the long sleeves on her white gown, so I went with a one shoulder spin on that look – and aren’t those shoes absolutely gorgeous!?

Evanora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

Evanora, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent by the-inbox featuring black heels

I know she’s evil, but I just love love love the costume for Rachel Weisz’s Evanora! I went for a similarly dark look here, and just had too much fun putting this one together – I figure, if you’re going to be bad you might as well look good while you’re being it!

As excited for Oz The Great and Powerful as I am?! Awesome, this is seriously the number one movie on my “must-watch” list this year! I hope it is on yours too!

Here’s an exclusive clip of Theodora and Evanora!

Red Carpet Ready Movie Night & Giveaway with Wholly Guacamole & Daily’s! Ends 2/28

You all know I’m a movie loving lady, so a couple of nights ago I had a little movie night get together in order to get myself psyched up for the Oscars – which are on in only two more days (depending on the time you read this post, lol)! wholly7

Wholly Guacamole & Salsa products are all natural, gluten free, contain no preservatives,

are non GMO, and are Kosher Certified.

Of course, no movie night party is complete without chips, salsa, and guacamole! Wholly guacamole makes my most favorite salsa so I was really excited to get my hands on some of their creations. I love how their salsa always tastes really really fresh – the flavor of the tomato really comes through, and it always delivers that really great spicy kick that I just love. Seriously perfect dipping salsa.

I made some super yummy ham and provolone quesadillas to dip in our Wholly Salsa!

And no proper party is complete without some Daily’s, and it only seems appropriate to have champagne at a pre-Oscars viewing party! Daily’s has loads of tips and recipes that make entertaining a whole lot easier on their site here, and for the recipe for the (seriously) delicious celebratory drink – Peach Party Champagne click here or on the image below.

And while I normally don’t cook at all for movie night, I just had to try Wholly Guacamole’s Guacamole Deviled Eggs (recipe here). Instead of using the basic guac, I used spicy guacamole – which added a welcome kick to the filling.

These were surprisingly delicious and even more surprisingly- easy to make! I loved loved loved them and so did my movie-watching buddies!

So because Joaquin Phoenix is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading role, we decided to watch (drumroll please)… The Village! Woohoo! The Village is one of my all-time favorite movies, I love the suspense and the relationship between Lucius (Phoenix) and Ivy and well as Lucius and his mom. However, our party lasted a little longer than I had expected and we also ended up watching another Joaquin Phoenix film – Walk the Line, which is also another all-time favorite! I own the soundtrack, and know the whole movie line for line and it never gets old. Phoenix does an amazing job as Johnny Cash to Reese Witherspoon’s June Carter Cash. It was a totally eventful, fun night, fueled with yummy snacks and drinks!

Now it gets even better, the wonderful folks at Wholly Guacamole not only invite YOU to join us at an exclusive “Red Carpet Ready” twitter party during the Oscars on February 24th! Just follow along with the hashtags #Oscars and #RedCarpetReady — share your movie night photos, dish on the Red Carpet fashion, and share your opinions on the winners and losers!

Feature Film Friday: Under Capricorn (1949)

I know I haven’t done a Feature Film Friday post in like forever, the only excuse I can offer is that I’ve been ridiculously busy between school, blogging, and other obligations. Anyways, the movie I chose for this Friday is a pretty obscure film but features an excellent cast.

Ingrid Bergman – one of my favorite actresses, and Joseph Cotton – most definitely one of my favorites star in Under Capricorn, a film by Alfred Hitchcock. It’s based on the novel of the same name by Helen Simpson about a young man named Charles Adare who arrives in the Australian colonies during the 1830′s. Hoping to make his fortune he befriends local wealthy business man Sam Flusky – Flusky is married to Lady Henrietta, who once knew Charles by way of her friendship with his sister. Flusky hopes that Charles will help cheer up his wife, a depressed alcoholic whose state of being leaves her with a non-existent relationship with her husband.

*Spoilers Ahead* However, Charles has feelings for Lady Henrietta and hopes to take her with him when he leaves Australia. But despite his outward appearance, Sam Flusky is still very much in love with his wife, and his wife with him. We learn that Flusky, a former convict, came to Australia to serve a sentence for which Lady Henrietta was really guilty for. And that her love for him, made her follow him to the colony – whose environment took a severe toll on her. Flusky accidentally shoots Charles, and results in a situation that could leave Lady Henrietta or Sam hanging from the gallows.

The film was not initially received well by audiences. Accommodated to thrillers from Hitchcock, they were not so pleased with the more dramatic character driven storyline. Also, it is suggested that the film did not fare as well as it could have because the illicit relationship and subsequent pregnancy of Ingrid Bergman with director Roberto Rossellini became public knowledge at the time of the films release. Either way, it’s definitely a film worth seeing at least once in one’s lifetime. Bergman gives an excellent performance as Lady Henrietta, and Joseph Cotton plays the mysterious and secretive Flusky wonderfully. My only issue with the film is that as a viewer, I’m left wanting so much more. Like I would love to see some form of happiness between Lady Henrietta and Sam – like a goodbye token, a promise that things began to look up for these two after so much suffering. It’s not a prolific film, but it’s an enjoyable way to kill a Friday evening.

My favorite scene, and don’t read this if you haven’t seen the movie yet ‘cuz it will ruin it for you, is when Sam finds out that Milly (the housemaid) has been poisoning Lady Henrietta in a bid for his affections. I love how Sam immediately wants Lady Henrietta to know that he had nothing to do with her maids wicked schemes, and not in a way that suggests he wants to remove himself from the situation, but in a way that just shows how her opinion of him is so important to Sam.

Also, according to IMDb, Under Capricorn is considered amongst French critics as one of Hitchcock’s best films. And the French are a pretty reputable source, after all they make croissants, and baguettes, and macaroons. So there, go watch it! ;)

Oz The Great and Powerful : March 8th!

Oz The Great and Powerful is one movie that I’m ridiculously excited for!  Oscar Diggs (played by James Franco) is a small time circus musician with questionable ethics. When Oscar is hurled into the Land of Oz, his dreams of fame and fortune are extinguished as he is drawn into the epic problems that face the people of Oz. The witches – played by Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams, and Rachel Weisz (one of my all-time favorite actresses) are not convinced that Oscar is the wizard everyone thinks he is, and Oscar must utilize his magical arts, ingenuity, and wizardry to become a better man, and The Wizard of Oz!

First of all, I’m in love with the casting done on this film – I absolutely love Rachel Weisz, and can’t wait to see James Franco as Oscar! Plus the costumes and design of the film looks breathtaking. While Oz The Great and Powerful doesn’t hit theatres until March 8th, I’ve included two of the movies posters (one above, and one beneath) and the trailer for your viewing pleasure!

As excited as I am??? Check out the movie site, facebook, and twitter to stay on top of new updates and exclusive content!!!
