Fun, Fab, Fashion from!

*This is a Fashionista Event.  I was given a promotional item to review by to share my opinions about the website.  All opinions are my own.*

I love when I’m able to find shops online that feed my fashion obsession – without feeding on my wallet. Just recently, on, I was able to find three pieces that were not only exciting, and unique, they were also excellent ways to play up my wardrobe without spending a ton of money.

This first piece was a gorgeous infinity scarf. It was a mix of bright and dark hues, and I loved that it had a lot of The NYC Talon colors. It’s actually one of those pieces that you can dress up or down because of it’s material. I know a lot of infinity scarves come in chunky knits, or thick cotton, but this one was more silky. Therefore you can wear it with a blazer and dress it up, or wear it with a simple waterfall cardigan, a t-shirt, and jeans and take a more laid back outfit and give it just the perfect amount of glamour – like we did here:

Loop your infinity scarf around your arms and wear it like this to mix up your every-day cardigan!

My second piece was this really interesting pirate ship t-shirt that freebird had listed on – which is another thing, I love that features a lot of independent designers, that way you know that your piece is really unique. Anyways, I was really drawn to how cool and detailed this shirt was – definitely a conversation starter, and most certainly a step up from the ordinary white tee.

My last piece, though definitely not least, was my customized silver plated BPJ necklace. I initially ordered it to say “The NYC Talon” however, the designer and customer service dept from emailed me an image of what the final product was (they weren’t sure it was the look I was going for) and allowed me to get the final say on what I really wanted. They were right, “The NYC Talon” crowded the necklace with capitals and looked confusing, so I decided on “nyctalon” instead and it came out fabulous – so a big thanks to BPJ and for flagging that down for me! Isn’t it gorgeous?!

The NYC Talon

Offering exclusive deals from “handmade, independent, or otherwise cool” sellers, was founded by Clay and Elly Bethune in the spring of 2013 with the goal to bring it’s customers fabulous fashion!

I have to say, based on all of these pieces Clay and Elly are doing a fantastic job! I love all of my new pieces and you can totally count on me over-wearing my new nyctalon necklace, haha!

Excited about Check them out here, and be sure to enter below for a chance to win either a $200 credit or one of two $50 credit’s to!

Ultra Glam Harpers Love Makes Creating Custom Jewelry a Breeze!

Content Disclosure
Everybody in my family is super creative – most of my siblings are artists, and I’m a writer. With Harpers Love, even people not predisposed to creativity can create gorgeous custom jewelry! Right now Harpers Love offers you the ability to create your own customized earrings and pendants – but have rings and bracelets in the works. Here’s a look at some styles on their site:

I decided to design my own piece on the site using their Design Builder – you can choose your Stone Number, Shape, Cut, Color, Metal, and Backing. The price of your final product depends on the customization’s that you make.

design builderHere’s my customization!

my design

Pretty nice, huh? I chose three different stones, with my first stone being a round 17mm blue topaz stone, the second being a 15mm pear shape sky blue topaz stone, and the third as 12mm pear shape sapphire pink topaz- all of them having a faceted cut, just because I think that cut makes the stone look more bright. I chose 14k yellow gold as my metal, Euro Wire backing, and the Dangle style (as opposed to having the stones stationed one on top of the other without linking). So apparently my ideal customized, created-by-me, set of earrings would cost around $725! Not bad – seeing as how it’s not costume jewelry.

Created by mom-prenuer Michelle Mullman, I love that Harpers Love products are manufactured in NYC and NJ – so close to me! I think anything from Harpers Love would make an excellent graduation, birthday, or anniversary gift! What’s more personal than a customized piece of jewelry for the girl you love – created by you!

The Road to “OZ”: New Clip & Polyvore Fashion

So I know I’ve said it like a million zillion times, but I am super excited to see Oz The Great and Powerful – which hits theaters next week! It was great to see so many of my blogging friends attend the actual red carpet premiere  (check out one of their posts here & here & here), and I’ve probably viewed the trailer enough times to know it by heart. So being of the digitally creative sort I decided to throw together three polyvore boards, one for each of the witches in Oz! Here they are:

Theodora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

Theodora, Disney’s Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent by the-inbox featuring a white gold tennis bracelet

I put this one together based on the character of Theodora, played by Mila Kunis. Theodora is initially a “good” witch, I loved the usage of her red, black, and white outfit in the movie – which isn’t as costume-y as Rachel Weisz’s Evanora outfit, and I tried to capture a little of the costume’s nuances here.

Glinda the Good, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

I love how princess-like and ethereal Glinda’s white costume is in the film. Glinda, played by Michelle Williams, is (obviously, lol!) the good witch of the South. I loved the long sleeves on her white gown, so I went with a one shoulder spin on that look – and aren’t those shoes absolutely gorgeous!?

Evanora, Disney's Oz the Great and Powerful #DisneyOzEvent

I know she’s evil, but I just love love love the costume for Rachel Weisz’s Evanora! I went for a similarly dark look here, and just had too much fun putting this one together – I figure, if you’re going to be bad you might as well look good while you’re being it!

As excited for Oz The Great and Powerful as I am?! Awesome, this is seriously the number one movie on my “must-watch” list this year! I hope it is on yours too!

XSRE Haul & Giveaway! (Ends 12/06)

As promised, here are the awesome items I picked up at XSRE recently! There were SO many great things to choose from, if you’re not careful you could end up dropping quite a lot here! I bought this amazing chunky knit scarf in teal – I love the color teal, and chunky knits are really popular during the winter, plus this scarf was super soft I just had to have it.

I also bought this purple scarf – it’d made up of thinner material, and has sort of a fishnet pattern to it. But what really won me over was the color – I don’t know if you can really see it in this picture, but it’s a gorgeous deep purple, with purple and gold threading going through it. It’s a more fancy in-doors type of scarf. At $6.95, it was so going home with me!

I scored two pairs of adorable flats – the great thing about XSRE is that they have so many style options and each option has an accompanying matching pair of shoes. If I remember correctly, the lace and black one was in the romantic section, and the nude color one was with coral and nude color products. I absolutely adore the bow detailing on both of these – aren’t they super cute? They were $19.95 each.

I also bought a fair isle print hard case wallet – I loved this so much, I bought two – one for myself and one for my sister. I also bought a headband that was on clearance for $1, and a mini notebook that was also on clearance for a $1.

I also bought this necklace, which I just loved because it’s so simple but still very glamorous. The gold really just makes you glow – without being heavy or garish. I also loved these earrings – the pink and gold combination is one of my favorites, and XSRE had lots to offer in that department.

Lastly, I picked up two of these beautiful bracelets – XSRE had a lot of on-trend accessories like these, and I couldn’t help but score a few. I’m keeping one for myself, but I’m also going to give one away to a lucky reader here on The NYC Talon!

The picture doesn’t do the bracelet justice – it’s a really pretty purple with silver spheres lining the inside of the bracelet, and ends with a little lock and key charm (ARV $8.95 ea). To enter to win, just follow the directions below – I hope you enjoyed my XSRE haul post, and maybe found some inspiration for your next shopping trip! Thanks for reading and good luck!

XSRE in the Palisades Mall!

I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not model material – I’ve always preferred to be behind the lens rather than in front of it. However, my sisters were never camera shy like me and totally know how to work it! So when XSRE announced their casting call events, we knew it was time for one of them to get discovered. Also, heading up to the Palisades Mall – where the event was held – was a great excuse for me to shop and scope out one of the hottest accessories stores around.

Up until the casting call I had never been to an XSRE (pronounced accessory – pretty clever, huh?) store before so my first impression was pretty much “Whoa!” The size and amount of accessories, clothes, shoes, and other pretty things was overwhelming – but in a good way. It really was like being a kid in a candy shop.

Despite having loads of things to offer XSRE is surprisingly easy to navigate, and is well organized. A lovely sales associate informed me that store was split into styles – like a romantic section, a roll and roll section, a glamour section, and more. Within that frame, sections are split into color or similar themes. For me, XSRE was like shopping through a magazine or even better – a pinterest board. One wall had everything blue – blue flats with black toes, a blue purse with a gold bow, a color blocked blue and black dress, earrings with blue triangle motifs, blue bracelets, blue and gold rings, necklaces with blue diamonds. There are so many fashionable options!

My sisters and I spent hours shopping- the store is so large that you can really spend that much time in there and have not properly gone over everything. The Casting Call was drawing quite a crowd, XSRE was looking for the face of their store and would award one lucky girl with a 6 month modeling contract and more (for more info check my former post here)! I watched as one of the stylists added gold XSRE accessories onto my sister’s wrists and white jeans, layered on a chunky knit scarf, and handed her a clutch that resembled a Coca-Cola can. They were so nice, and completely put all the would-be models at ease. They had a professional photographer there to take the shots – and I loved watching my sister model! She did a great job – even the photographer thought so (he told me)!

The casting call was so much fun, and I loved shopping at XSRE. They really have so much to offer, more than just accessories but gorgeous clothes, makeup, handbags, shoes, a few household products, and loads of great gift items. I will definitely be returning! Want to see what I bought?! Hang around for my next post which will be my XSRE haul and a giveaway!
