Party Perfect with DR Legwear!

I’ve had quite a few parties to go to since the holiday season started – it’s part of the reason why I love Christmastime so much, you get to spend so much of it with family and friends. I always like getting dolled up for events, and my favorite local place to pick up anything from party supplies to makeup and stockings is Duane Reade!

Their legwear is a perfect party outfit pick-me-up – now, you can always find typical tights at Duane Reade, but during the season I’m a sucker for their more eccentric pieces.  After being invited to a local beauty event I headed over to Duane Reade over on 51st – where they have a massive selection – and bought a couple pairs of their tights. But my favorites for this time of year are their black glittery tights.

Duane Reade Tights

These are so perfect for jazzing up a holiday party outfit – the glitter just make’s your outfit a little more glamorous, I think. Also, while they look very opaque in store, out of the package they’re a little more sheer but still surprisingly sturdy.

#DRLegParty #shop #cbias

I love bows – they make very festive accents and sort of remind me of Christmas presents.

#DRLegParty #shop #cbias

I also picked up this Milani polish on sale at Duane Reade. Party tip: if you’re running low on time before a party, swing by any Duane Reade and grab a glittery top coat. It make’s your nails look so fun, and you’re sure to get a ton of compliments!

#DRLegParty #shop #cbias

I’m definitely planning on wearing the glittery one’s for New Year’s Eve – they really do add a little “something” to your outfit.

As it happens, Duane Reade is hosting a “Show Us Your Party Legs” contest on their Facebook page, which you can find here! You have to click on the “Show Us Your Party Legs” tab at the top of the page, but if you enter you’re in the standing to be one of three grand prize winners who’ll receive (1) $500 gift card, (1) Mr. Chows $500 gift card, (1) Limousine ride, and (1) Duane Reade $250 gift card! You can find all the details and enter by clicking here.

I ShopStyle! Don’t you?

If you follow me on pinterest you probably know that I am a fashion fanatic. I have more pins on my fashion board then on any of my other boards. As a New Yorker I’m lucky enough to be exposed to some serious fashion and usually can spot a trend a mile off. I’m a true believer that fashion can be for everyone, and finding a place where you can have access to great pieces at competitive prices is key to a world of fab creativity.

In celebration of POPSUGAR’s ShopStyle site, I put together a few of my favorite cold weather pieces that I simply cannot live without!

We ShopStyle

The grey sweater is from Liz Claiborne – it’s a warm, comfy pullover that I just love paired with skinny jeans. I added a chunky statement necklace that I bought from a local jewelry store here in the city – I love chunky necklaces and I feel like the bright red, orange, and gold tones liven up the sweater.

The boots are “Sheena” from Rocket Dog. Rocket Dog is one of those brands that I can never get enough of. Boots are always trendy during the colder seasons, but these I could wear all year ’round. They’re comfy, have a tiny bit of lift, and are pretty much perfect. I love the selection that they have available at ShopStyle – I might end up treating myself to another pair!

The scarf is from Mossimo, and when I initially bought it I thought that it was a floral print. I’m normally not that into florals, except that I loved the color so much and it went really well with the color of my hair and my skin tone. After I bought it I discovered the scarf didn’t actually have flowers – it had massive skulls! I still love it, only I feel like more of a badass now when I wear it. ShopStyle has a great selection of Mossimo pieces – all priced amazingly, of course.

The yellow bag is a Navoh “Emily” bag that I’ve had for a while, and the brown bag is the “Dusk till Dawn” crossbody bag from Ecko Unlimited by Marc Ecko. The brown bag is a warm, go-to item and I reach for the Navoh bag when I need a pop of color.

The striped shirt is from INC International Concepts, and the plaid peplum pencil skirt (try saying that three times fast!) is a vintage piece.

What are your favorite fashion pieces or trends? Let me know in the comments below – and be sure to check out ShopStyle!

*This is a Fashionista Event.  I was given a promotional item to review by to share my opinions about the website.  All opinions are my own.*

I love when I’m able to find shops online that feed my fashion obsession – without feeding on my wallet. Just recently, on, I was able to find three pieces that were not only exciting, and unique, they were also excellent ways to play up my wardrobe without spending a ton of money.

This first piece was a gorgeous infinity scarf. It was a mix of bright and dark hues, and I loved that it had a lot of The NYC Talon colors. It’s actually one of those pieces that you can dress up or down because of it’s material. I know a lot of infinity scarves come in chunky knits, or thick cotton, but this one was more silky. Therefore you can wear it with a blazer and dress it up, or wear it with a simple waterfall cardigan, a t-shirt, and jeans and take a more laid back outfit and give it just the perfect amount of glamour – like we did here:

Loop your infinity scarf around your arms and wear it like this to mix up your every-day cardigan!

My second piece was this really interesting pirate ship t-shirt that freebird had listed on – which is another thing, I love that features a lot of independent designers, that way you know that your piece is really unique. Anyways, I was really drawn to how cool and detailed this shirt was – definitely a conversation starter, and most certainly a step up from the ordinary white tee.

9thandElm Pirate Shirt

My last piece, though definitely not least, was my customized silver plated BPJ necklace. I initially ordered it to say “The NYC Talon” however, the designer and customer service dept from emailed me an image of what the final product was (they weren’t sure it was the look I was going for) and allowed me to get the final say on what I really wanted. They were right, “The NYC Talon” crowded the necklace with capitals and looked confusing, so I decided on “nyctalon” instead and it came out fabulous – so a big thanks to BPJ and for flagging that down for me! Isn’t it gorgeous?!

The NYC Talon

Offering exclusive deals from “handmade, independent, or otherwise cool” sellers, was founded by Clay and Elly Bethune in the spring of 2013 with the goal to bring it’s customers fabulous fashion!

I have to say, based on all of these pieces Clay and Elly are doing a fantastic job! I love all of my new pieces and you can totally count on me over-wearing my new nyctalon necklace, haha!

Excited about Check them out here, and be sure to enter below for a chance to win either a $200 credit or one of two $50 credit’s to!

The NYC Talon NY Fashion Week Coverage: Strut

My NYFW experience kicked off with a bang last night at The MOMs Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show. Gone are the days of mom jeans and slouchy tees, last night these mom’s donned fashionable frocks and strutted their stuff for a number of worthy causes.

Among the causes were UN Shot @ Life – represented by Holly Pavlika, the Jason Taylor Foundation – represented by Katina and Zoe Taylor (wife and daughter of retired NFL Defensive End Jason Taylor), the Girl Rising Fund – represented by Tara Abrahams, Healthy Child, Healthy World – represented by Alysia Reiner, March of Dimes – represented by Victoria Recano and Maximilienne Burwell, and many more.

It wouldn’t be New York Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week without a few celebrity spottings!

CC Sabathia, Jorge Posada, Amar'e Stoudemire

New York Yankee CC Sabathia was present in support of wife Amber Sabathia, and kids Carsten, Jaden, Cyia, and Carter who all walked the runway for the PitCCh In Foundation:

Also sitting courtside – er, runway-side, was Amar’e Stoudemire, whose wife Alexis and children Assata, Ar’e, and Amar’e Jr. all walked the runway for the Amar’e Stoudemire Foundation.

Keeping company with Amar’e and CC was retired Yankee, Jorge Posada, whose wife Laura Posada strutted down the runway for the National Foundation for Facial Reconstruction.

Also strutting her stuff was WNBC’s Today in NY anchor Darlene Rodriguez!

This is the third Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show – with this season’s show being sponsored primarily by Whirlpool, Cottonelle, and Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer and presented by The Moms and SWWCreative.

Fun Accessories & A Linger Rose Giveaway!

This upcoming season, I am all about accessories. They really have the power to liven up most any outfit. Recently, I’ve invested in a lot of layering necklaces, along with heavier bejeweled pieces. Another accessory that is trending is bracelets, and I absolutely love leather wrapped ones!

The Gorjana Griffin Graham Leather Studded Wrap bracelet in Coral is a perfect accessory to help you transition – fashionably – into cooler weather. I personally love it because I feel like the studs and 18k gold plated hardware give it an edgier, more sleek and refined look. Isn’t it gorgeous?!

The Perfect Clutch & a Linger Rose LLC Giveaway!

Content Disclosure
I have to tell you, I’m an unashamed bag hoarder. I love purses, handbags, wallets, clutches, hobo bags, satchels, you name it and I’ve owned it. But living in NYC means living on limited space so nowadays when I add a piece to my collection it must be something that I really truly love. My favorite place to find gorgeous fashionable pieces is from Linger Rose – their online store offers tons of gorgeous fashionable finds. I was recently in need in of large hand bag – and I’ve been in love with the recent envelope trend. I was shopping in Target and couldn’t find one that was fashionable and the perfect size, I needed mine to be able to fit my cellphone, small wallet, and as-needed electronics for business and press functions – carrying around a messenger bag is convenient for everyday needs and I love it, but going to an event with a large clunky bag isn’t feasible – and doesn’t look good.

Luckily, I was sent a drop-dead-gorgeous oversized clutch by Danielle Nicole from Linger Rose! I’m fairly certain I squealed in excitement when I received this in the mail – I’m ridiculously in LOVE with this bag!

I absolutely adore the berry color of this clutch – it’s sturdy, perfectly roomy, the detailing is beautiful, the hardware looks so classic, it really is a quality piece.

In my experience with Linger Rose, they have amazing quality items, and they often run sales that place gorgeous quality pieces like these at amazing prices!

The lovely folks from Linger Rose want to offer one NYC Talon reader their own Danielle Nicole Mia Oversized Clutch in Cognac – I love this color, it would be gorgeous paired with a white lace dress or with a chunky knit scarf and berry red coat in the winter!

Ultra Glam Harpers Love Makes Creating Custom Jewelry a Breeze!

Content Disclosure
Everybody in my family is super creative – most of my siblings are artists, and I’m a writer. With Harpers Love, even people not predisposed to creativity can create gorgeous custom jewelry! Right now Harpers Love offers you the ability to create your own customized earrings and pendants – but have rings and bracelets in the works. Here’s a look at some styles on their site:

I decided to design my own piece on the site using their Design Builder – you can choose your Stone Number, Shape, Cut, Color, Metal, and Backing. The price of your final product depends on the customization’s that you make.

design builderHere’s my customization!

my design

Pretty nice, huh? I chose three different stones, with my first stone being a round 17mm blue topaz stone, the second being a 15mm pear shape sky blue topaz stone, and the third as 12mm pear shape sapphire pink topaz- all of them having a faceted cut, just because I think that cut makes the stone look more bright. I chose 14k yellow gold as my metal, Euro Wire backing, and the Dangle style (as opposed to having the stones stationed one on top of the other without linking). So apparently my ideal customized, created-by-me, set of earrings would cost around $725! Not bad – seeing as how it’s not costume jewelry.

Created by mom-prenuer Michelle Mullman, I love that Harpers Love products are manufactured in NYC and NJ – so close to me! I think anything from Harpers Love would make an excellent graduation, birthday, or anniversary gift! What’s more personal than a customized piece of jewelry for the girl you love – created by you!

My Latest Obsession: Litographs!

Content Disclosure It’s not too often that I stumble upon the perfect gift – and by perfect I mean, it’s a gift that pretty much everybody I know would completely and absolutely love. Because most everybody I know loves to read, and my closest friends and family happen to be serious fans of all the classics, I feel like Litographs has scored a prime spot on my personal gifting guide.

What is Litographs? I’m glad you asked, because they’re pretty much the coolest thing ever. Litograph’s was started by this guy name Danny, Danny loves books and had this amazing idea to translate that love of books onto prints (posters) and t-shirts! How cool is that? I was lucky enough to receive an Alice in Wonderland t-shirt, and The Secret Garden poster.

Picture 1

The Alice in Wonderland t-shirt runs for $34 with $2.99 in shipping, which is more than reasonable seeing as how much work goes into each shirt.

Picture 2

This is my shirt from the front…

Picture 3

and from the back – you can actually read every single word if you like!

Picture 4

A closer look.

I’ve loved both stories since I was a little girl and when you read a favorite book over and over again, it becomes familiar, like an old friend. What I love is that Litographs has transferred those books into works of wearable art and displayable design. That way old favorites can be revisited and remembered without ever turning a page!
Picture 5
This is what my poster looks like, I’ve dropped it off at Michael’s to be framed. I can already see my walls being filled with these prints!
I could explain all the hard work that goes into Litograph’s, but Danny does a far better job that I could have in this video (found on his Kickstarter page) here.

I definitely predict Litographs Gatsby prints and shirts becoming a massive hit, what with the movie coming out. I loved the book when I read it back in High School, and I know I already have my eye on the poster!

The Great Gatsby poster and t-shirt is available in store online now!

Check out Litographs here! And be sure to sign up for their email updates, they send out a $10 off coupon code for every new release (usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays)!
