P&G and Target Summer Glow Salon

Yesterday afternoon I was totally unprepared for the heat that was awaiting me downtown – if you follow me on instagram you probably already know that I was recently in Florida at Universal Orlando. I’m fairly certain that the temps down there were significantly higher yet somehow the city felt so much hotter then that hot Florida sun.Glow-Salon

Luckily for me I was invited by P&G and Target to join them right by the Flatiron building for their Summer Glow Salon. Open to the public, P&G in partnership with Target, featured mani’s, braids and blowouts, as well as a juice bar with favorite beauty brands – Fekkai, Covergirl, Olay, and Pantene. After cooling off with a Veg-Out Hydrator which included fresh pressed carrot, spinach, kale, parsley, apple, and lemon juice, I was ready to get summer glowing!

Hairstylist Kat Zemtsova hooked me up with a gorgeous Elsa-style pre-”Let it Go” braid/bun look using a few handy Pantene styling products (which I’m a massive fan of), I loved it so much! It kept my hair out of my face and off my neck, while looking gorgeously inspired, which is everything you want from a summer hair look. Braids are definitely what everyone is doing this summer – it’s pretty much the trend that won’t quit. Love it.

Fab-Lab-PGBeauty

There was a pretty good line forming as NYC gals can never deny the allure of beauty and pampering (and free, we love free). They had a great set-up with soft white couches, and an open tent, and when you instagramed with the hashtag you were give a great little gift bag with a few of P&G’s hit products.

Loved the event – it definitely took the edge off of the heat. I can’t wait to use my Target Cartwheel app to save on my favorite P&G products – seriously, I use it every time I go to Target and I’ve already saved tons which is great because I end up buying so much in Target anyways! Keep your eyes peeled for great beauty coupons on the app!

Make Up Tips with L’Oreal & Walgreens

cbias-disclosure

2014 has started off with a bang for me! I’ve definitely made a few well meaning resolutions, and one of them was to shake up my beauty look and routine in the new year. So far I’ve gotten a whole new hair cut and I’ve gone ginger! But my locks aren’t the only thing I’ve given a refreshing new look to – I recently swung by Walgreens to stock up on a few L’Oreal products that I’ve been dying to try, and walked away with everything I need for a bright and easy makeup tutorial!

#WalgreensBeauty #shop

I tend to work primarily with earthy tones when it comes to my eyeshadow. They’re certainly a safe option, however if you’re looking to shake things up without feeling out of your element this year, I definitely recommend that you go for a fun quad or palette like the L’Oreal’s Color Riche Eye Shadow palette in 313 Neon Skirt. Definitely a far cry from my taupe and brown, I love the minty green/blue color – which look’s lovely with the gold and purple. It reminds me of spring and Mardi Gras. Palettes are a safe way to try a new look, they are already color-matched and completely fool-proof. Here’s the look:

#WalgreensBeauty #shop#WalgreensBeauty #shop

I have been on the hunt for L’Oreal’s newest mascara – Voluminous® Butterfly Mascara, and I predict this one to be a must-have beauty item this year. There was only one left at my Walgreens!

#WalgreensBeauty #shop

This mascara is insane and has quickly replaced my higher end (and more expensive) mascara that I’ve been using in my makeup routine. The wand is flexible but still affords a good amount of control. The brushes really separate and coat lashes extremely well – and the formula is smooth so no feathering or flaking. If you’re in the market for an incredible mascara that lengthens, volumizes, and defines – then this is what you’re looking for!

#WalgreensBeauty #shop#WalgreensBeauty #shop

As excited about L’Oreal’s new Voluminous Butterfly Mascara as I am? If you’re in the NYC area on Wednesday, January 15th – be sure to stop by Walgreens in Times Square where Walgreens and L’Oreal will be hosting the launch of L’Oreal’s newest Voluminous Butterfly Mascara at 11am to 3pm!

If you’re not anywhere near the city, thanks to L’Oreal & Walgreens we’ll be giving away a Voluminous Butterfly Mascara here to one of you! Just leave a comment below letting me know which L’Oreal product you love most or what you thought about the look or products mentioned above!

SEE/CHANGE Skate Date at the South Street Seaport!

I really truly love winter’s in the city, I have to admit however that until recently I had never ever been to South Street Seaport during the winter. As much as I love the Seaport during the warmer months, the idea of going when it was colder never occured to me. However, just the other day I took a few of my nearest and dearest and headed down there to checkout South Street Seaport’s SEE/CHANGE ice skating rink.

CAM01375-TWINKLE

Surprisingly, being at the Seaport was not as cold as I thought it would be. The skating rink was located out in the center of the shopping area, right beside the Christmas tree. You just had to show up, rent or bring skates, pay, and head out to the ice.

South Street Seaport

They also had a concession stand where you could buy drinks and snack. There were a few couples on ice, plenty of kids, and tons of father/daughter duo’s – they were so adorable!

SEE CHANGE Ice Skating

It was so much fun! We stayed over an hour, between ice skating, Christmas music, and hot cocoa it was what I would call a perfect afternoon. I love being able to do things like this in NYC – it’s such a special experience, and I cannot wait to head back to South Street Seaport!

For more information on South Street Seaport, SEE/CHANGE, and the ice rink, click here!

*Disclosure: I received complimentary service’s as a part of my SEE/CHANGE experience. However, all opinions are honest and always my own.

Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square!

Last night my sisters, brother, and I attended the annual Winter’s Eve at Lincoln Square. We’ve actually been going every year since I was in high school, so it really has become one of my favorite family holiday traditions. While we all love the festive fun activities like the tree lighting ceremony, and the crafts for kids that are offered in many businesses from the Time Warner Center to 66th street, the highlight of the evening for us is the food!

We always start from Time Warner Center and work our way up to 66th street, they do offer a trolley but we just walk up. This year it’s estimated that around 20k people turned out for Winter’s Eve – the sidewalks were packed, but New Yorkers kept it moving. Winter's Eve Columbus Circle So basically, NYC’s local restaurants and bakeries sell small bites at $1-5 each at three different locations – Time Warner Center Columbus Circle, Lincoln Square Restaurant Row on Broadway between 62nd & 64th, and Richard Tucker Park on Broadway between 65th & 66th street.

We lined up at Sapphire Indian Cuisine and Asiate at Time Warner – they always have ginormous lines, and they also sell two of our favorites every year. Asiate does a delicious Beignet that is simply magical – we all bought our own because when something tastes that good, you just don’t share.

Asiate at Winter's Eve

Saphire Indian Cuisine serves Tikka Masala every year – and it is a hit every time. Seriously, the line there can get insane but the portion size is decent and the tikka is warm, delicious, and not too spicy. Sapphire Indian Cuisine at Winter's Eve Arpeggio Food & Wine had an amazing Panettone Bread Pudding, Rosa Mexicano had Mexican Hot Chocolate – they also do this every year and we love love love it! We also bought the Pasta e Fagioli and Chocolate Mousse from Cafe Fiorello, and Banana Bread Pudding from Magnolia.

Atlantic Grill served up an insanely delicious Mini Carrot Cheesecake with Winter Fruit Compote. Atlantic Grill is one of my favorite restaurants, so I was really happy to see them there. The tarty citrus flavor of the compote really went well with the creaminess of the cheesecake and warm flavors of the carrot cake. Atlantic Grill at Winter's Eve Landmarc served up a tasty Orrichette alla Norcina, and Gourmet Garage had my favorite Tomato Cheddar Soup. Francesco’s Pizzeria had delicious Zitti and Penne Alla Vodka – one of the more generous portions of the evening. La Boite En Bois served insanely good Mushroom Ravioli with a Light Cognac Sauce. The ravioli was one of my favorite dishes – it had surprising depth of flavor, and the cognac sauce was plate-licking good.

I’ve never been to Andanada, but based on what I had last night they are next on my list. I had their Campiñones rellenos de jamon, and Pulpo A La Gallega. The Campiñones rellenos de jamon had great flavor and was pleasantly salty, but the Pulpo is what really sold me on Andanada. Pulpo A La Gallega is octopus seasoned with olive oil and pimienton de vera served under mashed potato puree – and their’s was so good! The octopus was tender, and the mashed potato puree was creamy and played well with the flavors of the dish. Andanada at Winter's EveWinter's Eve PuppetsBar MASA at Winter's Eve We ate quite a lot, but it was so great being surrounded by fellow NY’ers and being able to try so many great dishes. We loved listening the the live music, and taking part in one of our favorite holiday traditions!

Progresso Artisan Soups Premiers at the DUMBO Arts Festival!

*This post is a part of my work with Progresso, however all opinions are completely honest and my own. For more information please see the PR tab above. Thank you!

Many of you already know that art is a huge part of my life, so I was so excited to take my sister (who is an artist herself) to this year’s Dumbo Arts Festival! The Dumbo Arts Festival is a yearly occurrence which highlights “Brooklyn’s commitment to and presence in the arts community by presenting the best in local, national, and international art amid the breathtaking backdrop of the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan skyline.” It’s open to the public and draws quite a number of visitors.

We wandered around a bit looking at different installments and pieces. My favorite was the giant blown up heart – in fact a lot of visitors were stopping to take pictures of the piece. With the breathtaking nighttime skyline of the city, the DAF was definitely an event that I feel anybody who can, should go.

Heart of DAF

A lot of people were checking out a alternative artisan creation – and that would be Progresso’s new line of Artisan Soups! Progresso was offering DAF-goers a chance to taste all of the soups from their new line, including Creamy Tomato with Roasted Red Peppers, Masala Curry Butternut Squash, Rustic Tomato with Chicken and Dumplings, Creamy Potato with Sausage and Kale, and Smoky White Bean and Winter Vegetables.

Progresso at DAF

Festival goers also walked away with coupons for the soup too! My sister and I chatted with a lot of people and they were really really enthusiastic about the soups, many of them went back on line for seconds. I can’t wait to share with you my thoughts about each individual soup – so look out for that later this month!

Progresso Artisan Soups at Dumbo Arts Festival

Soup in hand, we walked over to Jane’s Carousel where we attended the opening night party. The hors d’oeuvre’s were nice but we really just wanted more soup, lol! We did ride a couple of times on the carousel – if you ever find yourself in the city you should make a point of riding on Jane’s Carousel. It was so magical to be able to stare out over the water to the lights of the city – I feel like if it isn’t already an iconic New York City thing to do, than it should be.

A Million and Counting, with Duane Reade!

-post-white-script-400-2060782096

It’s not everyday you get to join your favorite NYC drugstore and celebrate them hitting over 1 million twitter followers! But I was more than thrilled to join Duane Reade, Duane Reade VIP bloggers, and even many of you on twitter to party and celebrate Duane Reade hitting a history making 1 million followers on twitter!

Prior to the #DR1MM celebration I headed down to Duane Reade’s 40 Wall Street location where I was prepped to party by having an amazing manicure, and later having my hair done.

#DR1MM #cbias #shop

I decided I wanted to go for The NYC Talon colors (black and hot pink) and my manicurist – who was amazing by the way – not only did a flawless job on my nails, but also assured me that if I came back to visit her she could help me rehab my yellowing nails. “You paint your nails a lot” she pointed out, “make sure you’re using a basecoat”. I haven’t used a basecoat in ages, I know, I’m incorrigible. “Come back, and I’ll help you make your nails white again.” I plan to.

#DR1MM #shop #cbias

My amazing manicurist! She was sooo nice!

The polish I chose were OPI’s Charged Up Cherry for the tips, and Black Onyx. Also, if you’re in NYC definitely consider going to one of Duane Reade’s Nail Bar’s to get your nails done – my manicurist informed me that they can do any number of styles or designs, including – my favorite – matte nails.

#DR1MM #cbias #shop

I also had my hair done by Koni Bennet (@glassofclass on twitter) at Duane Reade’s in-house salon, who did an amazing job with my hair! I absolutely love the curls! I still can’t believe that NY’ers can walk into a Duane Reade with a messy do and walk out with hair like this. Amazing. It’s that kind of service that makes me not surprised (though really happy) that Duane Reade has hit 1 million – and counting – twitter followers.

#DR1MM #cbias #shop

In between dining on Duane Reade’s in-house brand DeLish sushi, and fruit smoothies, and rubbing elbows with Duane Reade executives and Duane Reade’s own PR/Digital Communications Manager, Calvin Peters, I also twitter partied with many of you – who joined us for a evening of celebration! Some of you who tweeted with us at our party even won some pretty amazing gift cards!

It was so cool seeing all your tweets on the the jumbo screen while at the event – and I loved sharing them with you too! Thank you for joining us!

While not all of you have had the opportunity to meander through NYC streets and waltz into a local Duane Reade, many of you pointed out that the things that have made Duane Reade so popular, is a combination of stellar service, great products, and dependability. I couldn’t agree more.

I’m so happy to be a Duane Reade blogger and definitely am looking forward to Duane Reade’s next celebration – here’s to looking forward to two million! ;)

One in a Million! Duane Reade Hit’s A Million Follower Milestone!

-post-white-script-400-2060782096

I’ve been going to Duane Reade since I was a little girl. I still remember my mom taking my sister and I into Duane Reade to buy snacks like chips, juice, and gum. Then in high school, I used to stop into Duane Reade with my best friend literally every single day to buy drinks. Now that I’m older I head into Duane Reade to buy things like Align Probiotic, face masks, and healthier snacks. As a New York City girl, I can tell you that Duane Reade is the go-to store for almost all New Yorkers (and visitors as well!). How do I know? Well Duane Reade just hit a milestone of 1 MILLION twitter followers!!! You don’t have to stand outside a Duane Reade and count foot traffic to see how popular they are, I mean their number of followers proves how much people love them!

I have loved blogging about Duane Reade for the past year – thanks to Duane Reade I have found some of my favorite products, snacks, and drinks and have been able to share them with you!

I’ve also become more familiar with the Duane Reade Happy Healthy mag, and can easily figure out what sales I want to be taking advantage of!

HappyHealthy1 #DR1MM #Shop

I love how committed to New Yorkers – and customers in general – Duane Reade is! I love how they were giving out free tickets to this year’s All Star Week. Look how warm and fun their street team was! Meanwhile, if I wasn’t there checking out their awesome giveaway, I wouldn’t have met New York Yankee David Robertson!

Duane Reade is so on the money in terms of products and connecting with their community on and offline that it is no surprise that they have reached now over 1 Million twitter followers! To celebrate, I headed to my local Duane Read (of course) and picked up some really glam candles and bought a cupcake nearby and celebrated in my own delicious way!

#DR1MM #ShopCelebratory Candles #DR1MM #Shop#DR1MM #Shop

Want to join in on the celebration too? You don’t have to live in NYC to love to party, and on September 17th Duane Reade will be hosting a massive celebratory twitter party! I’ll be there, will you?! During the party Duane Reade will be sharing the love by giving away $500 in Visa Gift Cards! How awesome is that?! To RSVP click here!

A #MC #PricelessNY Date Night with Dad at Dizzy’s!

MasterCard Priceless Experiences

Last Friday night I had the dubious honor of accompanying my lovely dad to the infamous Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola at Lincoln Center (it’s technically in Time Warner Center – which if you follow me on instagram, you’ll know I’m in there all the time). Thanks to MasterCard’s Priceless Entertainment Experiences we were truly in for a Priceless experience!

My dad is the reason that I love jazz so much, he used to – and still does – play jazz music all the time. I was listening to Blue Note CD’s since I was in pigtails. So I was so pleased to be able to go on a father-daughter date with him to Dizzy’s via MasterCard’s Priceless Entertainment Experiences.

Exclusive to MasterCard holders, MasterCard’s Priceless Entertainment Experiences gives you access to exclusive opportunities and events taking place in Priceless Cities. For instance, our Priceless New York Experience included prime table seating for two, music cover charge for two, a flute of proseco, and MasterCard mints. Lucky for us, MasterCard also treated all guests present as a MasterCard New York Experience guest with dinner as well! Check out more MasterCard New York Experiences here!

Priceless NY Menu

It is suggested that you arrive a little early to get better seating. We grabbed a couple of excellent seats along the room, where servers offered us drinks and hors d’oeuvres of fried Mac n’ Cheese and Chicken Satay.

Blackened Salmon at Dizzy's

For dinner I had the Blackened Salmon, while dad went for Mamie’s Fried Chicken. It was all so delicious, but even more breathtaking was watching the sun set over views of the city, including Central Park. The deep notes of jazz thrumming in my ear, fine dining on my plate, gorgeous view, I don’t think I ever felt more like a New Yorker. My dad loved it, it was a really special evening and one we’ll both never forget.

The NYC Talon NY Fashion Week Coverage: Strut

My NYFW experience kicked off with a bang last night at The MOMs Strut: The Fashionable Mom Show. Gone are the days of mom jeans and slouchy tees, last night these mom’s donned fashionable frocks and strutted their stuff for a number of worthy causes.

Among the causes were UN Shot @ Life – represented by Holly Pavlika, the Jason Taylor Foundation – represented by Katina and Zoe Taylor (wife and daughter of retired NFL Defensive End Jason Taylor), the Girl Rising Fund – represented by Tara Abrahams, Healthy Child, Healthy World – represented by Alysia Reiner, March of Dimes – represented by Victoria Recano and Maximilienne Burwell, and many more.

Wendy Williams & Tavern 29 Event Recap!

A couple weeks ago I was invited by The Moms to join them for a light brunch at Tavern 29 with well known talk show host and celebrity Wendy Williams. There really is nothing like being on a rooftop in Manhattan, and Tavern 29′s rooftop space rates as one of my favorites!

Tavern3.jpgTavern1.jpg

Bloggers and other media personalities gathered to talk shop with Wendy about her newly released book – Ask Wendy, Straight Up Advice for All the Drama in Your Life. Wendy was more than gracious and of course, completely candid!

Tavern6.jpg

Before she took a few Q & A’s, Wendy doled out experienced based advice about cheating husbands and backstabbing girlfriends. Speaking from her own experience, Wendy’s advice came across as heartfelt and full of good intentions – providing a mature and serious, as well as honest outlook to life’s everyday drama. Of course, chatting with Wendy also meant lots of laughs!

Tavern8.jpg

Afterwards Wendy had a book signing, stopping to talk with some guests with personal questions of their own, and taking pictures.

Tavern10.jpg

I had a blast, the food was awesome! And I definitely plan on returning to Tavern 29 – I’d love to have a look around the lower levels and see what other yummy options they have to offer! With a perfect breeze and exposed brick walls, Tavern 29 would make an ideal event space, I’m even seriously considering doing my parents anniversary party or an upcoming graduation party there.
