Riverpark Luncheon with Alison Sweeney and Arm & Hammer

When you’ve lived your entire life in one place, you begin to think you know it by heart. All its nooks and crannies, the best places for brunch, dinner, for taking a leisurely walk on Saturday afternoon. So naturally I was beyond surprised when I was invited down to the famed Riverpark restaurant for a farm-to-table luncheon hosted by Arm & Hammer and Alison Sweeney. I had no idea that the restaurant was home to a flourishing urban farm, amazing food, and breathtaking city views!

Farmer Sam and Alison (every time I see her I have to pinch myself, I spent so many years coming home from school to watch Alison as Days of Our Lives’ Sami Brady!) gave us the grand tour. Alison reflected on the importance of clean and authentic ingredients – from the plate to our toothpaste. Alison has partnered with Arm & Hammer for many years, she pointed out how with Arm & Hammer you can always tell it’s working because you can feel it.

Farmer Sam, who showed us around, shared that maintaining a garden comes with its own set of complications. The garden is rested on unfilled milk crates, which give it it’s mobility. That means in case of a storm or unpredictable weather, the garden can be transported in doors. The produce from the garden, naturally, end up on the plates served at Riverpark.

Riverpark, owned by Tom Colicchio, presented us with a lovely lunch designed and prepared by Executive Chef Andrew Smith. We started off with burrata served with heirloom tomatoes, stone fruit, charred breadcrumbs and basil. Riverparks urban farm boasts numerous varieties of basil, their fragrance sweetening the air outside the restaurant while adding fresh flavor to the dishes served inside.

Did you know that cheese neutralizes acid and aids in preserving tooth enamel? As if I needed any more reason to eat more cheese! Meanwhile, stone fruit contains high levels of vitamin C, which is vital for gum tissue health. I’ve never had stone fruit with burrata and I absolutely loved the combination. The sweet fruit brought out the sun-warmed sweetness of the heirloom tomatoes and the creaminess of the burrata.

Riverpark Salmon

I chose the salmon as my main course, I once read that a restaurant that can cook salmon without drying it out is a good restaurant indeed. Riverpark’s salmon – served with heirloom peppers, zucchini, crispy fingerling potatoes, and rosemary – was perfectly cooked, as if it had been done sous vide. Salmon, a great source of vitamin D, also helps with calcium absorption.

Summer Fruit Trifle

Our lunch was ended on a sweet note with a Summer Fruit Trifle. Strawberries, blueberries, lemon verbena whipped cream, chiffon cake, and a pistachio sacristan rounded out my ideal summer dessert.

Thank you to the Arm & Hammer team for a lovely lunch!

Spinbrush Launches Truly Radiant Clean & Fresh Collection with Alison Sweeney at Flywheel

I’m the sort of person that prefers lounging to lunges, whipped cream to weight lifting, quick naps instead of quick jogs. As it happens, a few weeks ago Arm & Hammer asked me if I would like to take a spin class at Flywheel with Alison Sweeney & Spinbrush. Spurred on by delusions of me spinning my way through a 45 minute workout, I said “sign me up!” My response in the affirmative may have been seriously slightly influenced by the opportunity to meet Sami Brady in the flesh, but the fall-out came afterwards where I repeatedly messaged my friend Nellie from Brooklyn Active Mama about the likeliness of my death-by-spin-class. If you don’t follow Nellie, you definitely should, she’s an amazing lifestyle and fitness expert, plus she’s one of the coolest ladies I know.

Nellie refused to let me chicken out, and joined me as well, and honestly it was a really eye-opening experience. I did not anticipate how much fun I would have, and really did not imagine that I would stay on the bike for the entire 45 minutes – and I did! And it was awesome! Also, it was really cool that Alison stayed there the entire time too!

Alison Sweeney, who is an Arm & Hammer spokesperson, spoke briefly about the new Arm & Hammer Truly Radiant Clean & Fresh collection. The new Clean & Fresh collection features a toothpaste, mouthwash, as well as a battery operated and manual toothbrush. The collection delivers deep cleaning and lasting freshness by way of their patented dual-action brush head, and can be used along with the toothpaste and rinse for a smile that is noticeably whiter.

 Truly Radiant Clean and Fresh

Having been a dedicated spin-brusher for years now, I actually noticed a massive difference between this Clean & Fresh Spinbrush and my older model – this brush moved much quicker, the bristles were very effective but not irritating, and my teeth felt way cleaner. Also, the toothpaste and mouthwash have this great spearmint flavor that lasts all morning, so high-five for fresh breath, haha! Also, if your food features a lot of garlic, this is the collection for you. I love cooking with garlic, and this toothpaste and mouthwash worked like a dream to get rid of that garlic breath and weird flavor, so basically, I’m sold!

Thank you so much for the invite Arm & Hammer! Since then I’ve already been back for another spin!

Hot & Cold with Arm & Hammer!

Almost a year ago I took an English class where my professor insisted that we visit at least half a dozen galleries (along with the High Line) in Chelsea. So two weeks ago, when I was invited to a brand event I was more than intrigued, and certainly more than willing to venture back into Chelsea. Who knew the home of all those art galleries was also host to amazing event spaces?

So on a Wednesday evening I joined Arm & Hammer at one of the coolest (or should I say hottest) events that I’ve been too. The Glass Houses in Chelsea’s minimalist exterior hardly suggest the amazing event space hidden upstairs – which is where this event was held. To celebrate Arm & Hammer’s Sensitive line of toothpaste the space was designed with a “hot” side and a “cold” side – which was reflected in the lighting, food, decor, and even the hot and cold hand massages offered on either side of the room.

Sensitive1Hot hand massages! SO cool (but not really – you know what I mean)!

Having spent the day running around, I was all too eager to have a hot hand massage. I have to admit, I’ve had hand massages before, but never a hot one and it was something I’d do again in a New York minute – it was so relaxing!

IMG_1045The view from the cold side – the setup was awesome!

After my massage I meandered over to the cold side of the room and had a chance to try out Chloe’s Soft Serve Fruit Co. Located down in Union Square, Chloe’s makes their soft serve fruit from only three ingredients – fruit, water, and “a touch of sugar”. I tried the blood orange with shredded coconut – it was so yummy, you wouldn’t believe it was made with only three ingredients!

I had the best time ever, and met so many amazing people – I wish I could relive that night all over again – or at least my hand massage, lol! Since it’s been two weeks since the event I’ve been testing the Whitening version of Arm & Hammer’s Sensitive line – and not only has my teeth looked whiter, but they also feel ridiculously clean and even stronger. Also, I just visited my dentist and he gave me an “A+” on my teeth and gum health – so I’ll definitely be sticking to A&H’s Sensitive line.

Oh, before I forget Arm & Hammer is running a really cool sweepstakes where you can win a culinary adventure in my most favorite city – New York City! I have to say, I might be a little biased (y’know because this is after all, the NYC Talon), but this is one pretty darn great sweepstakes, lol! To enter to win click here, or just click the image below – and good luck!
