RoC-ing it out at Duane Reade, RoC Brand Answers Your Anti-Aging Q’s!

Disclosure

I don’t know about you, but I’ve always wondered when was the right age to begin using anti-aging products? Do you start when you start seeing those laugh lines laughing back at you, or crows feet creeping up in the corners of your eyes. I always wanted a sort of “official” answer, so I was extremely pleased to join the RoC Brand, Johnson & Johnson Research & Development Senior Director, Anna Prilutsky, and RoC Brand spokesperson Dr.Debra Jaliman, as well as an array of social media and beauty influencers at Duane Reade a couple weeks ago to learn more about anti-aging skincare, what is retinol, and when you should start using wrinkle-reducing lotions and potions.

During the event Dr.Jaliman (who also attended the #Eyes4NYC twitter party) spoke about the importance of taking care of your skin. She says that sunblock is a basic must-have and that you can avoid certain skin damage just by applying it daily – yes, even when there’s no sun out. Not a fan of a zillion step skincare process? Well, most RoC products already include SPF!

But what exactly is retinol? Retinol, a form of Vitamin A, is designed to repair fine lines and deep wrinkles by reducing collagen depleted skin and increasing the cohesiveness of epidermal cells. Don’t have fine lines or wrinkles yet? Well, the retinol in the RoC Brand line of products also aid in diminishing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots too!

I was just burning with curiosity about this one, and had to ask, when do you start using anti-aging skincare products? Dr.Jaliman recommends as soon as possible – yup, you read that right, as soon as possible. In fact, I don’t have too many wrinkles and I’ve already added a couple RoC products into my daily routine, I’m all about preventative skincare!

Some skincare tips from Development Senior Director, Anna Prilutsky included starting off with the RoC Multi Correction 5 in 1 Daily Moisturizer if you’re new to retinol or have sensitive skin and incorporating it into your routine gradually. Also, with eye creams, you’ll only want to use a pea-sized amount of cream, using any more would be a waste as you’re only dealing with a small surface area and a thin layer of skin. And one more tip, don’t apply your anti-aging eye creams over the actual lid itself – it can potentially irritate your eye.

I loved talking shop with Anna and Dr.Debra – they offered so much insight! Right now I’ve been using the Multi Correction 5 in 1 Eye Cream and I can already tell that my skin is softer and looks brighter, plus I’ve added the RoC Deep Wrinkle Serum as a part of my weekly cleansing/treatment routine. So far, I’m loving this line!

You can pick up the entire RoC Brand line of skincare and anti-aging creams at your local Duane Reade! Have you tried RoC before? Do you have experience with anti-aging skincare? Let me know in the comments below!

I will be the first to admit I know NOTHING about skin care! I wish I had a great routine but my only skincare is washing my face daily and that’s about it. It’s really nice to see you were able to go to and learn a lot about skincare and some great products 🙂
