NYC Talon’s TV (movies): Anne of Green Gables Series (1985, 1987, 2000)

Chances are you’ve probably heard of this series before, in which case feel free to have an Anne with an “e” geek-out moment with me. And for those who haven’t heard of this series before, if you’re even remotely a free-spirit romantic type you’ll love this series based off of the books by Lucy M. Montgomery about an orphan girl who gets adopted by an elderly brother and sister (who initially intended on adopting a boy), with the books detailing her life on Prince Edward Island.

I’ve loved this series since I saw it when I was a kid. It’s a great series to watch with fellow kindred spirits, I know I love watching this with my mom and sisters. The series consists of three installments: Anne of Green Gables (1985), Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel (1987), and Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story (2000). The series doesn’t follow the books exactly- but there’s still loads of heartwarming scenes, laughter, and tears (like Matthew’s scene at the end of the first one!)

Anne of Green Gables Memorable Quote:

My life is a perfect graveyard of buried hopes. That’s a sentence I read once and I say it over to comfort myself in these times that try the soul.

– Anne Shirley in Anne of Green Gables

Plum puffs won’t minister to a mind diseased in a world that’s crumbled into pieces.

– Anne Shirley in The Sequel
