Celebrity Makeup Artist Jamie Greenberg Reveals Her Spring Beauty Tips with Zyrtec & Gilt City

My seasonal allergies act as my yearly reminder that spring has indeed sprung. Just a few days after I noticed my persistent sniffling and watery eyes were not a late-winter cold but just the return of my allergies, I was invited to join celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg and actress Jordanna Brewster for a fun event with Gilt City and Zyrtec who have teamed up with Jamie to offer Gilt City shoppers a sweet promo (more on that in a minute). The event was held at the Crosby Street Hotel, which is one of my favorite spots in the city because the penthouse views are seriously gorgeous, take a look!

Jamie’s tips for making sure that allergies don’t get the best of your beauty routine, include avoiding wiggling the wand (which I admit, I do) when you’ve got allergies as it can cause your eyes to water more and leave you with smudges. She also suggests trying out a flat fan brush instead of wand to apply mascara, if all else fails, use disposable mascara wands each time you apply mascara during the allergy season, it’ll help you avoid allergens and other build-up that can occur on reusable wands.

Jamie also recommends applying cool moisturizer, which may help reduce puffiness caused by allergies. Storing your moisturizer in your refrigerator (I store mine in the butter compartment), and before bedtime remove all your makeup with a gentle cleanser and apply the cool cream to your face to soothe and nourish skin overnight.

My favorite bit of new advice was this – very often oils, allergens, and other residue can build up on the surface of our makeup (and even in our cosmetic bags – so clean those regularly too!). To avoid this issue, Jamie suggests laying transparent adhesive tape over the powder to remove straggling debris from the surface. It’s also a good idea to opt for pencils instead of twist-up products, as every time you sharpen you’ll know that you’re starting off with a clean layer of makeup.

While I didn’t arrive early enough to catch Jordanna, I was able to get a gorgeous and Allergy Face friendly look done by Sarah DiGisco from GLAMSQUAD – thanks Sarah!
